18-548BPU 17.1Replacement of Water Services Inside Advisory ZoneBPU- ReportREPORT - CONTRACT AWARD - REPLACEMENT OF WATER SERVICES AFFECTED BY THE TUBBS FIRE-INSIDE THE ADVISORY ZONE BACKGROUND: The Santa Rosa Water Department has performed an extensive investigation to determine ways to remove the contamination from the water system. An acceptable solution must meet two goals: 1) Minimize risk to public health and safety; and 2) return the water system to pre-fire conditions. The investigation has looked at the various methods to remove the contamination: flushing, pigging, surfactants, water treatment and replacement of infrastructure. Efforts at cleaning, flushing and/or partially replacing the system within the advisory have not been effective in removing the contaminants to a level that is acceptable for the protection of public health and safety. However partial replacement outside of the advisory area has proven to be more effective and Santa Rosa Water is moving forward with a phased approach to replace all services inside the Water Quality Advisory Area. The existing services will be replaced with 1” Polyvinyl coated copper lines. The contraapprove as amendedPass Action details Video Video
