1. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS  
Meeting was called to order at 9:02 am  
2. PUBLIC COMMENT  
Public Comment:  
Carolyn Spencer spoke about the closure of Social Advocates for  
Youth (SAY) and spoke of a personal relationship for an individual  
who was affected by the closure of the organization.  
3. VIOLENCE PREVENTION PARTNERSHIP UPDATES  
Danielle Garduno, Program Manager, provided the following  
updates on The Partnership:  
-New Community Outreach Specialist, Juan Flores, has started with  
VPP.  
-The successful visit with the City of San Jose's Youth Intervention  
Services team in San Jose.  
- Strategic Plan implementation for Intervention Services is  
underway with support at schools, and identifying two local clinics to  
provide services for the Tattoo Removal Program. Additionally  
implementation for Communication, Outreach, and Education  
continues with parent education events, with one being held on  
January 31, 2024 at Santa Rosa High School and another being  
held on April 4, 2024 at Roseland University Prep.  
-CHOICE Grant Cycle XII Request for Qualifications will be  
released on Tuesday April 2, 2024.  
- Update on the Operational Team and the increase in referrals that  
are received through the Guiding People Successfully (GPS)  
program.  
Public Comment:  
Anabel Nunez asked if The Partnership is accepting volunteers and  
what the CHOICE Grant program is.  
4. SCHEDULED ITEMS  
4.1 CLIMATE UPDATE  
Santa Rosa Police provided an update on the number of gun  
confiscations in 2024, which is now at 120.  
Sonoma County Juvenile Probation Department representatives  
provided current numbers for who is in the hall, with a total of 60,  
and 7 of those youth are from out of the county. Additionally,  
Juvenile Hall has developed a music program.  
Roseland School District representative provided an update on  
the funding cuts they are facing for school counselors and  
welcomes partnerships to support their schools.  
The Partnership invited New Hope for Youth from San Jose to  
share information on their services they provide for the City of  
San Jose and Santa Clara County.  
Public Comment:  
Anabel Nunez requested that members of the Policy Team  
refrain from using certain words that can leave negative  
impressions.  
Carolyn Spencer presented a series of questions to the Policy  
Team and stated that the funding cuts the schools are  
experiencing are hurting the youth in our community.  
Victor Castro spoke about funding issues and that youth are  
needing after school programs, and urges schools and police to  
work together for finding funding.

PRESENTATION - MAN 2 MAN: URBAN YOUTH ADVOCATE  
Dr. Stewart Perrilliat gave a presentation on his program Man 2  
Man.  
Public Comment:  
Carolyn Spencer thanked the presenter and will reach out to them  
directly with specific questions.  
4.3 PARTNER UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS  
Erica Vogel from Community Matters gave an update on their  
work with schools in the county, working with 37 schools and over  
1000 children in conflict resolution. There is an Up Stander  
Luncheon on May 3rd with an opportunity to meeting with  
ambassadors and trainers of the Safe School Ambassadors  
program.  
Mark Stapp, Vice Chair for the Policy Team, relayed that Sonoma  
State has received funding to serve incarcerated students.  
Public Comment:  
Carolyn Spencer asked the Policy Team how local community  
based organizations plan to support the youth who were housed  
and supported by Social Advocates for Youth, and what services  
are available for individuals who experience domestic violence.  
Anabel Nunez made public comment that she volunteers at Elsie  
Allen High School.
