PRESENTATION - SOUTH SANTA ROSA SPECIFIC PLAN  
The Planning Division of the City of Santa Rosa has prepared the Land  
Use and Circulation Alternatives Report for public review. This report  
presents three distinct alternatives that explore how the Plan Area could  
grow, including the location and nature of new housing, shops, jobs,  
parks, and transportation improvements.

MOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION  
- SOUTH PARK RESOURCE FAIR  
BACKGROUND: The Community Advisory Board (CAB) reviews and  
approves the 2026 Community Improvement Grant Applications. The  
Board shall award grants to the applicants whose projects best meet  
the criteria.  
The South Park Resource Fair grant application submitted by South  
Park Coalition is requesting $2,500.00 to host the South Park Resource  
Fair. This is an event that will bring more than 30 community partners to  
share resources and information with residents. Their objectives are: 1)  
to strengthen relations between neighbors to build community cohesion;  
2) to improve relations between South Park residents and the Santa  
Rosa Police Department; 3) to work with community partners to bring  
helpful resources to the neighborhood. Their overall goal is to be a  
safer neighborhood where neighbors know what services and  
resources are available to them. The event is free and open to all.

MOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION  
- CMOSC MUSEUM-ON-THE-GO  
The CMOSC Museum-on-the-Go grant application submitted by  
Children's Museum of Sonoma County is requesting $2,500 to host their  
Museum-on-the-Go program. Museum-on-the-Go aims to deliver  
CMOSC’s unique, vibrant, STEAM-focused programming to children  
and their caregivers who might not otherwise be able to visit our  
permanent Santa Rosa location, while simultaneously educating  
caregivers and childcare providers throughout Sonoma County about  
the Children’s Museum and the accessible/affordable, playful learning  
opportunities it provides. Their belief is that all children, regardless of  
geography or economic status, have the right to playful learning  
opportunities critically needed for healthy brain development that will  
help kids achieve their full potential as engaged learners and  
successful members of society.

MOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION  
- SRJC FORENSICS INTRAMURAL TOURNAMENT  
The SRJC Forensics Intramural Tournament grant application  
submitted by the SRJC Forensics, Speech, Debate, and Performance  
Team is requesting $2,324.7 to hold their Spring tournament. This  
tournament is designed to help students practice using their voices in a  
public setting, creating and maintaining a link among students, faculty,  
and the larger Santa Rosa community. At each event 15-200 SRJC  
students ranging from ages 15-75 give speeches and debate in front of  
30-50 community members who volunteer as the audience. The larger  
community is welcome to attend the final rounds, to witness the  
competitors, and to join the team the next semester, as the team is open  
to all community members.

- CELEBRATION OF JOY BLACK JOY  
The Celebration of Joy Black Joy grant application submitted by She  
Inspires Inc. is requesting $2,500 to host Black Joy celebration. This  
celebration is a free community-centered event designed to uplift,  
celebrate, and affirm Black Joy through art, music, storytelling, small  
business engagement, and intergenerational connection. The project  
creates a welcoming, family-friendly space where community members  
can gather, be seen, and experience joy as a form of resilience and  
cultural expression.

- SONOMA COUNTY VOLUNTEER FAIR  
The Sonoma County Volunteer Fair, co-hosted by Los Cien and the  
Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL), is requesting  
$2,500 to host a volunteer fair. The fair is a countywide community  
event designed to strengthen civic engagement, nonprofit capacity, and  
inclusive volunteerism in Santa Rosa and across Sonoma County. Held  
on César Chávez Day and aligned with Global Volunteer Month, the  
event honors the legacy of collective action while creating accessible  
pathways for residents to serve their communities.

MOTION - COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GRANTS DETERMINATION  
- THE MUSEUM OF SONOMA COUNTY SECOND SATURDAY: FREE  
FAMILY DAYS  
The Museum of Sonoma County Second Saturday: Free Family Days  
grant application submitted by the Museum of Sonoma County is  
requesting $2,500 for their Museum of Sonoma County Second  
Saturday: Free Family Days program. As part of this program, the  
museum is expanding their bilingual marketing so that  
Spanish-speaking and bilingual households receive clear  
communication about these events. They are especially seeking City  
funds to support teaching artists’ stipends, printed marketing materials,  
and art materials, to ensure these free, inclusive events are accessible  
and high quality. If awarded, they would allocate 100% of a city grant to  
non-personnel costs for the Second Saturdays program.

MOTION - MAY 27 MEETING DATE CHANGE  
The CAB adopted its 2026 meeting schedule on November 19, 2025.  
Due to limited staff availability, the May 27, 2026, meeting cannot be  
supported as scheduled.  
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Board select, by  
motion, an alternative regular meeting date on either June 3 or June 10,  
2026.  
8. CAB ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ISSUES OF CONCERN TO CITY RESIDENTS  
CAB Members may share community news, upcoming community events that  
be of interest to the CAB, and issues of concern for residents.  
9. STAFF UPDATES  
This time is reserved for City staff to provide a briefing on issues of interest.  
No action will be taken on these matters except to possibly place a particular  
item on a future agenda for consideration.  
10. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS  
This schedule is tentative and subject to change pending final publication and  
posting of the Meeting Agenda. This time is reserved for discussion whether  
to place matters on a future agenda for further discussion.
