5. SCHEDULED ITEMS
5.1 CLIMATE UPDATE
Santa Rosa Police Department
This summer more regional agencies have reached out for
support from the Santa Rosa team. Financial scams have been a
rising concern in the community especially among elderly
communities. The Santa Rosa Police Department responded to
questions about community concern of ICE and noted policies
and rights to be aware of as well as community resources
available.
Probation Department
Juvenile Hall has had around 60 youth for the last couple of
months. A multi-sensory de-escalation room has been created
for youth in Juvenile Hall to utilize.
Transit Department with City of Santa Rosa
Transit has had a quiet summer.
Roseland School District
The District is facing budget cuts and staff changes this year and
it will be the final year that Roseland Collegiate Prep is open.
There is a new Superintendent, Jason Lee, starting this year. The
StopIt application has been quiet this summer but staff are
preparing for the first few weeks. A new staff position of a
Campus Supervisor was created for extra on-campus support at
a couple of sites.
Santa Rosa City Schools
The District is preparing for the consolidation of some middle
schools and high schools this upcoming school year. Student
Safety Advisor positions have been expanded to be on campus
at each of the campuses effected. District-wide perimeter
fencing is in the works at each campus. Santa Rosa City Schools
will invite partners to back to school events coming up to support
students and families.
Public Defender's Office had no updates.
Graffiti Abatement Program
There are local congregations that are reaching out with support
for the community in this project. This project is still in early
stages but eventually will be calling on volunteers for support with
implementation.
