SANTA ROSA JOINS THE WHITE HOUSE POLICE DATA INITIATIVE
In meeting the Open Government Task Force’s goal of delivering services in the most open and transparent manner possible, the City of Santa Rosa has agreed to join the White House Police Data Initiative.
Launched in May of 2015 by President Obama, the White House Police Data Initiative is centered on two key components: (1) using open data to build transparency and increase community trust, and (2) using data to enhance internal accountability through effective analysis. Initially launched with 21 participating agencies, the White House Police Data Initiative has expanded to over 34 agencies, all agreeing to publish at least three (3) police-community datasets and participate in a community of practice, including bi-weekly calls.
Currently the City is publishing more than 50 datasets on the City’s Open Data Portal (data.srcity.org) in the areas of City Government, Recreation and Parks, Housing and Community, City Finances, P...
