REPORT - 2021 REGIONAL ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM CYCLE 5 RESOLUTION OF LOCAL SUPPORT - FOR HIGHWAY 101 BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN OVERCROSSING PROJECT
BACKGROUND: California’s Active Transportation Program (ATP) uses state and federal funds to support projects and programs that make walking and biking better travel options for residents within the state.
Applications for both the highly competitive statewide and regional ATP were due September 15, 2020. The City submitted an ATP application requesting $12.0 million for the construction phase of the Highway 101 Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing to both the state and Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for consideration. While the application was not awarded funds in the statewide competition, MTC awarded the City with funds from their regional allocation at their April 28, 2021 Commission meeting.
