MOBILE SUPPORT TEAM (MST)
The purpose of the Mobile Support Team (MST) is to respond with law enforcement to situations involving individuals with behavioral problems stemming from drugs, alcohol, mental illness, or other factors. MST will assist individuals having behavioral incidents and help them receive the aid they need. MST is made up of licensed mental health clinicians (i.e., MFT, LCSW) and certified substance use disorders counselors. Members of MST are authorized to place individuals on a psychiatric 72-hour hold under California Welfare and Institutions Code 5150. MST can provide assessment, case management, referrals, and follow-up to individuals presenting mental health or substance use issues.
MST will be available to assist police officers and deputy sheriffs when requested through dispatch. The MST is new to Sonoma County. Initially, in order to remain within MST capabilities, the operational area will be limited to the Highway 101...
