REPORT - AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT TRACTOR DRAWN AERIAL (TDA) LADDER TRUCK
BACKGROUND: Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD) has identified a need for a new ladder truck to replace a 22-year-old existing ladder truck. The current ladder truck has outlived its standard useful life of 15 years. In addition, the current ladder truck has had many suspension and ladder problems. In order to maintain and operate the current ladder truck, the department is incurring large repair costs and significant down time which are causing operational issues.
The replacement ladder truck has a cost estimated at $1.432 million. The Chief Financial Officer notified SRFD that the City will purchase the ladder truck outright. Funding for this purchase will come from General Fund reserves.
