Title: PUBLIC HEARING - ADOPT THE SONOMA COUNTY MULTIJURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AND UPDATE THE CITY’S EXISTING LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN - CONTINUED FROM THE NOVEMBER 30, 2021 REGULAR MEETING BACKGROUND: Hazard mitigation is the use of long-term and short-term policies, programs, projects, and other activities to reduce or alleviate the loss of life, personal injury, and damage to property and natural systems that can result from a disaster. The City participated in a Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) planning process to increase collaboration around hazard mitigation planning and to serve as a five-year update to the City’s existing Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) which expires on January 10, 2022. The MJHMP includes two volumes. Volume 1 contents apply to all participating partners and Sonoma County in its entirety.
